Is sending your child to DCPS stressful?

Anonymous
No.

Parent of a child in DCPS and another child in a charter school.

some of us actually have special needs kids, you know.

OP, do you think this in contrast to the parents of children in MCPS or APS or FCPS? Do you think parents of children in private schools do not stress about things related to school or do they stress about different things? Define "certain elements," please.

17:43 that was clearly not what I was talking about.

Likely some/many of the parents that you perceive as stressing about their child being "delicate" are navigating special needs or worried about special needs.

What did the OP mean by this? Be wary of confirmation bias.

In general, when you have the kind of money that buys private school, you should be less stressed in general. Because you have money to solve your problems.

Oddly, the richer people I know are not less stressed seeming. So who knows?

No, not at all. I go to his school only to drop him off or pick him up.
Haven't met his last 3 teachers and I don't obsess about them.
Sent a check to PTA and one to his room parent. I haven't planned or micromanaged anything.
What's stress? The kid loves the school, the curriculum is great and he did well on Parcc.
I don't know about certain elements in his classroom, but I hope you will tell me about them.

Yes, my one kid is white, but the younger one is not and he is the Einstein.
I stay out of their schools as much as possible because going to school is their "job".

I find myself SMH at a lot of posters on here. Parents seem extreme for the wants and needs of urban schools (free). Granted some things should be a no brainier, but some of the request are are a little outrageous (i.e written reports for PK3).

I grew up here in DC and did pretty well. We just reinforce at home with extra activities outside of "homework".

Not stressing at all! Some people should just home school.

I don't think the poster was referring to special needs, but I have to agree with the points listed.
