Friends never offer to do anything for my birthday when I travel and make theirs yearly

I think you should initiate the plan you want. Be a little flexible on the day and time and hopefully you'll get a decent turnout.

I have a birthday get-together for myself most years. Most of my friends do too. Usually it's just a HH at a place with specials where people can come and go, see everyone, have a beverage or a meal. Sometimes I combined with other birthday people so our friends can see all of us at once. I don't make a big deal of who comes or doesn't. I make an effort to go to as many of my friends' birthdays as I can, though sometimes I skip the expensive group dinners in favor of drinks afterward.

The only person I do this with is my childhood best friend who is 5 days older than me and lives 4 hours away. We do an annual trip and use our birthdays as the excuse. I couldn't imagine trying to balance 3+ trips with my friends every year with family commitments at home.
