Low-key way to share Citizen of the Week news with friends and family?

Anonymous
I know you said you were joking, but on all those threads, I wonder do people not have a secret group for their families? We created one many years ago and it's a place where we would post things like this that we wouldn't share publicly. We're free to brag there because we're all family and we love and support one another. Grandma, aunts and uncles actually want to know about Suzy's accomplishments, awards and funny little stories. I love seeing the little wins of my nieces and nephews!

Well, I fell for it, OP. I'm the poster who said to call the grandparents, etc. Honestly, it is so annoying to see all the responses on other threads that are seeming to downgrade accomplishments of other people's children. I don't have a Facebook page because it just isn't my style but I absolutely love looking at the postings of family and friends and reading about the good stuff happening in their lives. Sometimes there is so much bustle going on and talk with these same folks about car pools or coordinating activities that I don't get to hear about the big little things. Anyway, thanks for fessing up! And thanks for forcing the conversation!

OP here. This is a great idea, and it honestly never occurred to me before. Thanks for sharing it. (and it's nice to know there are family members out there who are excited to read about the little wins...parenting can be so tough, and the small boosts can help, you know?)

Oh good, I'm glad this was helpful!

Given the recent larg number of them, I feel like I have no idea.

I'm 22:14. Not a troll. Laughing at/with OP, proud of my kid, not posting either of those on social media or bragging irl.

I was the OP and now I feel like a tool because yes I was (good-naturedly, I promise!) trolling, but everyone's responses are so earnest and sweet, and I'm really happy for those of you whose kids are being recognized for their character! I wish I knew what schools you were in, because I would want my kid in class with yours. (Although fair warning, if my DC actually DID get publicly recognized for good behavior, I might throw a parade.)

(If anyone else wants to jump in here and share their pride in their kid's thoughtful behavior or good citizenship, I say go for it.)

OP -- you're neither troll, nor tool. I got the joke and appreciate your original post and this one as well. Both are good-natured and kind. Don't let anybody rain on your parade.

Of course we're thrilled, and we want to celebrate accordingly over the holidays, but we don't want to upset any family members whose kids haven't received any honors other than Perfect Attendance, which isn't nearly as selective. Should I do a social media blast and get it over with, or just tell family and friends in person when they ask how DC's year is going?

Um, are you really serious? Your DD is in 2nd grade. I am certain that each child in her class will have the opportunity for this high honor during the year. While it is nice that your DD got this award during the holiday season, it is hardly a huge deal.

I love it when someone reads the OP and quickly hits the keyboard to reply without reading any further. You could answer your own question.

Yup, this is PP. No, I didn't read all the posts. Now I get it, sorry about that!
