Sorry, that seems to be reaching. I certainly wouldn't stick around at parties once they start doing shots, but I don't see cutting all ties over this.

No no no. My issue is how SIL has been acting. Saying things like she needs to learn to not argue. Getting drunk at her son's party. She's even recently said that gay men aren't allowed around her son because they might rape him. I don't want my child witnessing or hearing this. I'm so disappointed in SIL.

I was in an abusive relationship when I was a teenager. My personal experience is why I wondered if her saying that was no big deal.
