The US is the Largest shareholder at the IDB and many people are very concerned about the future.

I thought his view was that we are not only the largest donor, but that other relatively wealthy countries are failing to make their donations, resulting in a significant US subsidy beyond it's apportioned share. I am not finding an easily available source for that being his view, but seem to recall hearing it over the past few months.

You might be thinking of the IDA For the Bank, the member countries purchases shares and make payments and I have never heard of that being an issue.

I would love to see how US protects its own commercial interests outside of US if it takes these kinds of actions.

Remember how closely aligned Bush family was with the Saudis? Everyone is in the pockets of foreign interests, especially Trump, who is now working with Indians to build a Trump Tower in India. Anyone who thinks that there will not be an increase in HIB visas or military spending is stupid.

PP here. Didn't say they would be smart ideas, just that there are ways the US government can get at the international organizations and exert leverage. Terrible ideas, but who knows given the incoming administration.

Dirty politics and meddling
Perhaps this world needs BRICS

I work at one of those institutions and I'm not worried. He's got bigger fish to fry before he turns to either of these institutions. I could see the U.S. perhaps blocking big bailout packages at IMF, but then again he may under the systemic consequences if these actions aren't taken.

I think Trump is going to be much milder than his campaign bluster.

My friend works in NY for the United Nations. He told me staff are really worried at least at the UN.

I was shocked when my friend told me that the UN covers a portion of his child's college education. That's crazy. And he has a pension as well.
