Is it ok to book an accessible hotel room if able-bodied?

Anonymous
I would never request one because it could prevent someone from having it if they really need it, but I have certainly stayed in them as assigned by the hotel.

I worked at a big hotel--handicapped rooms are always the last assigned because unless you have a need you don't want them. There is no extra space and the added safety features can get in your way, plus the location issue as pp said.

I never thought to ask.

I am disabled, and I have come across issues when there are no accessible rooms left.

This, don't be an asshole OP. I'm handicap. An accessible room usually has a large width size bathroom in order to get a wheelchair, handrails by the toilet and walk in type shower so you can be wheeled in (some gyms have these), no bathtub, the sink counter will be at a level accessible for a wheelchair, the electrical outlets will be at a level for a wheelchair, toilet may pedal flush, The furniture is arranged for a wheelchair, and they are supposed to be on the first floor because in an emergency evacuation in case you are in a wheelchair you can't use the stairs and no one can take the elevator.

Why do you need this? And if it was bigger, why do you need that for the same prize? I hope you are a troll asking because of the handicap bathroom stall, thread. Otherwise you're a jerk.

Recently I booked a last minute hotel online (same day) and it was the only room available. This was online. I booked it. Looked like a regular room.

I don't like the accessible rooms. Would never request one, and have asked to be moved a couple times when I got put in one. OP what are the features you want by requesting an accessible room?
