Enjoy, savor, but proceed with reasonable expectations and a plan. "Chemistry" is great, but it's literally like a drug in terms of hormonal and chemical reactions. It can mask a lot of undesirable things in a person. I was in the same boat (divorced after a long marriage, went online). I hit it off with someone and the rest of the candidates paled. It was fun but shortly ended in heartbreak. Learned some lessons, got back in, dated and eventually I again found someone with whom I had amazing mutual chemistry. That time it stuck and we've been together for a few years in a great situation. I tried to keep my head about me, take it a step at a time. I enjoyed it but I didn't rely on it. |
