What are your thoughts on bamboo?

I love my bamboo! It is tall and beautiful and gives our yard lots of privacy. PPs are right that it does bend under the weight of snow so you have to allow room for that.

I'd love to have a panda, too.

Yes, because a non-native endangered species that has not thrived in the wild and barely thrived in captivity being scientifically bred has a great chance of invading your yard because you happen to plant its favorite food.

But just in case this PP is right, OP, if you plant and attract a panda, make sure to contact the National Zoo. I hear that they have a soon to be vacated panda bachelor pad waiting for a new wild and crazy guy to move in.

the problem around here nurseries are shit. Merrifield, meadows, ect. while is nice that the tag on the pot says is a slow growing clumper... but three years later you find out that is not. and you are basically fucked.

much easier to to just say no... or plant it in a planter

Way to fear monger over nothing.

+1

If the neighbor acts out, you can always pursue that legally.

Love bamboo. Just make sure you know what you're planting and that you take appropriate precautions to contain it -i.e., thick rubber membrane to partition where it can grow.
