How to make my dog like his jacket?

Anonymous
Depends on the breed whether fur is enough in freezing temps. But this time of year, I don't think any dog needs a coat.

No dog can survive outdoors in freezing temperatures based solely on the fact that it has fur. They will freeze to death.

Maybe the thing you got this year is uncomfortable.

Amazing there are millions of dogs who live in truly frigid places. Dogs dropping like flies when it snows in DC just isn't happening, silly.

I didn't mean taking them for a walk. I meant living outdoors in freezing cold weather. No shelter.

Anyone who thinks their furry dog needs a coat during 50-70 degree weather is just silly.

This is not snowmageddon.

Well we'd better start a coat drive for these feral dogs!

It's so cold that she instantly shivers when she steps outside. I got her a little sweatshirt that goes on over her head. She did not like those quilted coats that strap around her body. I think they feel too restrictive to her.

I have a little dachshund and she shivers when it's cold too. And it's even worse because she's so low to the ground. We got a sweater that slips on like a vest harness and she likes wearing it and it keeps her belly from being exposed when we go outside.

OP here: obviously wasn't planning on having the dog wear the jacket until it got a lot colder. Don't understand all the haters haha. And my dog is a dachshund....

Yeah. Throw the damn thing away

Hi op, have you tried something like this:

Dachshund's might struggle with anything that is on the front legs because their legs are so short.

We are not haters but, your dog sure hates his/her coat! We are trying to tell you that your dog doesn't like the coat and you can not force it. Buy something else or let it go.
