Do you keep a drying rack or mat by the sink?

+1 I don't like the look and just put things on a dish towel. I don't do a lot of hand washing.

I do a lot of handwashing, if i didnt, wed be running the DW 2xs a day. We gave a mat. Same color as the counter. Im a very big cook so, our kitchen seems to be in use all the time. Dont care how the mat looks, its rare im not in the middle of a project, even if its inly proofing dough, simmering broth or roasting something. Therr is always something going on.

I also think it's ugly buy my DH insists!! Oh well. It is useful, I will say that!

We've got a mat that's out pretty much all the time. Usually we'll put it away when we entertain.

We have a mat for practical reasons. With three small children, I'm washing dishes all day long (knoves after cutting fruit, snack bowls, etc). I hate the way it looks, but I know my kids won't be small forever. One day we will have a clear counter, and I'll be sad that the kids have grown up ?

No. I lay things on a hand towel. Pots and pans go on the stovetop until I can dry them or they air-dry.

I have a double sink- I use the smaller side as a drying rack.

I have one that goes over the sink- it (should if I followed through) helps me out away stuff as soon as it's dry. I found it in the Best things from Amazon thread here last year.

I learned about drying mats on DCUM and that's what we use now.

We have a drying mat for all the non bottle baby stuff like spoons and sippys and bowls. We also handwash knives and cutting boards (wood). I put it away for company.

I do. I hate it, think it's ugly, but with an active house and two kids that come home with a zillion little tupperware containers, it seems it is here to stay at least.

I bought this silicone drying mat for the few little things I hand wash and air dry. (When I hand wash large items, I dry them with a towel and put them away.) I got a color that blends well with the countertop so it's subtle.

I have one built into the cabinet above one of the parts of the sink, like this:

I can close the cabinet and it hides the drying dishes completely. A friend in Japan had this and I copied the idea. Japanese people seem to really come up with cool ways to increase the functionality of stuff while also making things look cleaner and more simple.
