If your kids changed elementary schools due to a move

Child can go to school at either cluster.
I would keep child in his current school. You do not want to add stress from school to be on top of stress from divorce.
Try to find place may be outside of boundary, but very close to it, so commuting to and from school will not be a problem. Plus that way your DH would be more involved with your child, and that would be plus for both your child and you.
Mail from school can go to either house, it is not important.
I hardly can imaging your DH to withhold final grades of your son.

The only problem is DH has already started moving his stuff to his brother's in another county so neither of us will be in the cluster. The houses I'm looking at aren't in the cluster, but they're no more than a 10 minute drive from the school.

Was it easy to get a COSA for the rest of kindergarten? I would prefer to keep him at his school for the rest of the year.

Super easy - filled it out, turned it in to the new neighborhood school. My understanding is that they are automatically granted to finish out a school year when you move.

I'd call anaymously to find out if that's indeed true. I would not change schools for my child mid year for a move. I think it's very disruptive to children who depend on routines. Not to mention the child already has to adapt to the divorce. I have seen children have to change schools when the school was told about a move, however I don't know if a cosa was requested or if this was something that was even offered by the school (on the chance the parents did not know this was an option). I'm sorry you and your family is going through this.

Maybe I'm alone, but I don't really think its a big deal to not bother with the change until the school year is over. Just more paperwork for everyone.

Thanks! Yes, I would definitely prefer to keep him there for the rest of year. I wouldn't mind keeping him there until he goes to middle school, but I know that's impossible.

Sorry to hear about your divorce. My kids really appreciated having as few changes as possible right after our divorce. We were able to stay in the same house and schools, and I think it helped my kids transition. Good luck with your decisions.
