Me too. I bought the book because the movie trailer looked so interesting, and I love mysteries. By the end, I would have been perfectly happy if every single character ended up dead. What a boring, annoying group of people.

I don't have high standards, either. I know a lot of people disliked Gone Girl, but I enjoyed the heck out of that book.

You quoted me and that was exactly my experience with the book. And Gone Girl.

The reviews have been terrible. Too bad because I love Emily blunt.

I was also trying to figure out where on earth there would be an UMC apartment that one could see into from the metro north track line.

I don't want to see if since they changed the setting. I lived in the UK and rode trains a lot. I sometimes made up stories about people who lived along the tracks. But who wants to see if with a British girl in the U.S.? Not me.

I also hated the book and hated Gone Girl.

Especially with a British actress!!

I liked the book "Girl On The Train" a lot.

The ending was so much better than the "Gone Girl" book ending.

I didn't like the film for "Gone Girl" since after reading the book, the movie was pretty much scripted word for word.
And BOTH had the same, disappointing ending.

I am hoping that "Girl On The Train" will be just as entertaining as a film like it was as a book.

Me too! I haven't watched GOTT yet. My friend gave the movie a thumbs down so now I'll just wait till Redbox.

With apologies for the off topic, but what else do you like? I just finished Tana French's Broken Harbour and thought it was great.

I'll have to try that one. I'm all over the place with books. Just finished The Martian recently and loved that. Definitely one of my all-time favorite books. Really enjoyed Man Called Ove and The Nightingale. Blanking on others... T

Have you ever seen Rosemary's Baby? That follows the book almost to a T

The creepiest book and movie ever! Now I want to see the movie again!

+1, hated this book too.

I thought the movie was just ok. Reminded me of a Lifetime Original Movie. Saw it at Pic & Rose; not worth the $28 ticket price.

I LOVED the Nightingale. I read all of Liane Moriarty's books and the were good, light reading. I'll have to check out Broken Harbour- what's it about?

I saw the movie last night. I read a couple of "meh" reviews so my expectations were very low. I was surprised at how much I liked it. It gave DH and me material to analyze afterwards, which for me is a good thing.

My opinions on:
Gone Girl book- very good
GG movie- not nearly as good as the book

TGOTT book- ok, quick beach read maybe
TGOTT movie- much better than the book, thanks in large part to Emily Blunt, who was fantastic.

I had reservations about the locale switch from U.K. To US, but forgot all about that while watching. FWIW Rachel is British in the movie.

Good review. I also was very disappointed about the locale switch, but it was fine. More than, fine, it worked out flawlessly. Glad that Rachel is still British though. Was the therapist spanish though? With that arabic name? Anyway. Emily played a great Rachel, and I don't want to give spoilers, but the violent and sad things that happen in the book are very vivid and very suspenseful! The movie definitely gets you even more involved with Rachel, Megan and Anna, if that's possible!

The least believable part was the beautiful houses right on the RR line. I just thought of all the DCUM Real Estate people saying I wouldn't pay that much that close to the tracks!
