I saw the movie last night. I read a couple of "meh" reviews so my expectations were very low. I was surprised at how much I liked it. It gave DH and me material to analyze afterwards, which for me is a good thing. My opinions on: Gone Girl book- very good GG movie- not nearly as good as the book TGOTT book- ok, quick beach read maybe TGOTT movie- much better than the book, thanks in large part to Emily Blunt, who was fantastic. I had reservations about the locale switch from U.K. To US, but forgot all about that while watching. FWIW Rachel is British in the movie.
Good review. I also was very disappointed about the locale switch, but it was fine. More than, fine, it worked out flawlessly. Glad that Rachel is still British though. Was the therapist spanish though? With that arabic name? Anyway. Emily played a great Rachel, and I don't want to give spoilers, but the violent and sad things that happen in the book are very vivid and very suspenseful! The movie definitely gets you even more involved with Rachel, Megan and Anna, if that's possible! The least believable part was the beautiful houses right on the RR line. I just thought of all the DCUM Real Estate people saying I wouldn't pay that much that close to the tracks!
