| I would send her to an inexpensive private school. I am a teacher and make next to nothing but I send my kid to a Catholic school. I would not be okay with her going to a school where her peers don't care about school. Even if you aren't Catholic, you can send your kid to a Catholic school. |
Stop smoking crack. RM and QO are not ghetto schools. Yes, RM has IB, but that's not the majority of the schools. Just look at JW racial breakdown. |
I don't do crack, I don't smoke, I don't drink. I standby what I said.

Following your link: White ALONE, percent: 61.3% And, even if it was only 45%, my main point holds: it's plain stupid to forget the basic demographics of the country we lived in. Signed, Immigrant who's never voted Republican, but finds stupidity like yours deeply troubling |
In what way (s) was she not welcomed due to being white? How many practices did she attend before she stopped going? |
That's white including Hispanic. Scroll further down and you will see that white (not including Hispanic) is 45%. |
So what? Still, whites are more than double the black percentage, correct? So my basic point holds. |
So, you're not going to acknowledge that you were wrong, nor take back your comment about "stupidity," even though you are the one who can't parse a simple table? The point is that you are using national demographic statistics in a majority minority county. Your "basic point" falls apart when viewed through the lens of Montgomery County's actual demographic profile. |

OP, I'm sorry your kid is having a rough time. But--and I mean this with no snark, honestly--you might want to check your attitude. Even if you don't use this entitled, whiny tone with your daughter, can she pick up on your disdain for the school's demographics?
Middle school is hell in the best circumstances, IMO. Be there for her, encourage her, but don't have such a chip on your shoulder about all this. |
| I would love to know what middle this is. I live in the NEC cluster too and the middle school my DD attends has after school sports. |
| It's not even basketball season, troll. |
|
It does seem odd. It is cross country and softball season and all middle schools offer both (and cross country doesn't cut).
I'm at a DCC MS school with 24% WH; 40% HI; 17% BL. 46% FARMS. Lots of kids play basketball. My daughter plays - she's white. I don't see what that has to do with anything. It may be that this is the first time that you have a team that has limits. But you can still do rec ball somewhere else. If you expect it to be terrible, it will be terrible and your child will think it's terrible. I agree with the PP. You need to watch what you hope for, however, if you move to another school. It's a balancing act -- there are entitlement-problems at some schools that are difficult to avoid. |
| "Ghetto" is such a charged word. Stop using it so casually. |
Then get that large stick out of your ass. |
NP, it seems to me you are the one to apologize. If you are the first PP above talking about Bethesda and Potomac schools, your point was indeed stupid. You cannot compare a 64% Black school with a 64% white school without taking into account the basic facts PP is highlighting. |
