Friend who often invites me to events, but then won’t talk to me

You're her social safety net. She wants to make sure that she has someone to talk to and hang with if she ends up not socializing it up with others whose company she prefers. Not to say to not go if you enjoy these events but sounds like you're only there for her. do you hang only around your friend or do you try to meet new people?
