Wegmans good stand-in for Whole Foods?

The only Wegmans I have been to are in the Philly area but they have WF and every other store beat by a mile. So sad to hear the ones in this area don't live up. I loved it bc it had regular grocery items, good produce, great organic selection, and a pretty solid store brand.

I wish there was a Wegmans closer as its better than HT and WF. I haven't found anything at WF that I would want that wouldn't be at Wegmans. But I am one of those shoppers to have to hit both HT/WF or Moms/WF. Can't seem to do it all in one store.

Everytime I go somewhere other than WF I am depressed. I actually don't even live near a Whole Foods anymore, I lived across the one in Friendship Heights for years, now the closest one is 20 minutes away, and it is still my go-to place.

I live near Harris Teeter, Safeway, and Giant... hate them all.

I have never been to a wegmans but are they not huge? I do not get the whole foods hype. I think op should try wegmans because it seems both frugal and foodies love it. I think the downside is the crowds.

I love Harris Teeter. The workers are friendlier. No way to Wegmans - way too big, odd layout, expensive and I didn't find the quality of the produce and meat to be any better that HT. Not a fan of Whole Foods either. Bought some chicken and it was slimy when I took it out of the package. Went to return it and it was such a hassle. And - they had a sign posted saying they give you double your money back if you aren't satisfied and the clerk didn't think it applied to my return. Also bought produce their and was underwhelmed.

You guys are so lucky to have Wegmans. I moved away to a place with only Publix and it sucks.

wegmans is better than both and you can get things from both stores at wegmans.

I am usually a Whole Foods shopper. I went to the Wegman's in Alexandria. It was very attractively laid out, but the prices were no better than at WF. The fish was more expensive and appeared to be of a similar quality. The meat was the same price. Vegetables were the same price. Fruit may have been slightly cheaper. Cheeses were more expensive. They didn't have the baby food pouches my son likes. This is all I usually buy at WF. So for me it wasn't worth the trip out to Wegmans.

I will concede that their baked goods are far superior to WF, but I don't buy baked goods that often.
