Umm, you clearly haven't been there for decades. |
|
Pittsburgh on the west. Philadelphia on the east.
Alabama in the middle. |
They don't call it Pennsyltucky for nothing! |
Main Line is beautiful and a bastion of old money. Definitely east coast. Rest of the state is a dump. |
Grew up there 50 years ago, half my family still lives there. The other half, inc me, left for greener pastures. Old money Philly is a dying breed, literally. |
Yup. What a weird place. |
Just moved from there. Grew up in the country club set. You must not know the right people. Old money is alive and well. |
| Grew up in Harrisburg/hershey - I found more culture shock visiting ohio than nj or NYC. So not sure where the rust belt part starts but it's west of south central pa. It isn't southern feeling either - def not Alabama. |
I am from the middle. Assume you meant this as an insult. You seem really sweet. |
None of what you wrote makes any sense, PP. |
| East coast. |
NP here. I know old people from Williamsport who have lived there for decades who freely say that "PA is Philly, Pittsburgh, and Alabama." Why deny it? |
| Both. Drove through the west part on our way to Toronto, and man... forests and poverty, basically. |
We did the same drive and I completely agree. I had previously only been to Philly and t the Lancaster/Hershey areas so it was a bit of a surprise. |
| DC went to college in central PA. I was always amazed at how rural it is, and how many roadside adult entertainment places there are. It's super depressing. |
