Low-cut booties ok for interview?

If you have this suit, you need pumps, heels, slingbacks. Something other than those booties. And I am as fashion free and forward on these boards as anyone. But boots no matter what the weather will never look good with that suit.

Bit of a tangent ... what is that Peltz site OP linked to in her original post. I've never heard of it but it seems to have good prices! Is it legit?

Uhhh - that would be a huge no.

The Karmen style at Payless Shoes is a cult favorite and comes in a zillion colors.

FSO here. Don't know who you're interviewing with, but you should know the dress culture of State is conservative. Any hint of "Millennial inappropriateness" (and, yes, that's a thing managers in State talk about) could lose you the job.

Black shoes go well with dark brown, just don't go patent. My personal opinion is that shoes that match exactly are a bit of a turn-off, too. Too matchy, matchy.

The booties are a definite no.

Brown is hard to match, so I would go with a taupe color, here is a heel that will probably work--it has a slight pattern that will pick up the dark brown. fwiw, these are very comfortable--I have them in black.

You need to study State Dept culture before the interview.

oof. those are hideous and would look very strange in 90 degree weather.

I'm a little worried about your suit if you thought those shoes were appropriate. You say it "fits like a glove"- that's not really what you want in an interview suit. You want zero sexy.

Was going to write this myself. If you think those shoes are possibly okay, i'm thinking your "fits like a glove" is not an appropriate interview suit.

You do not own a pair of pumps or a low heel in any color? What do you have in your closet? What colors?
Anonymous
No, only wear the booties if you wear pants. They look silly with a skirt suit.

+2. And for gods sakes, wear pantyhose.

OP here, decided that the pants are a safer bet since it sounds really conservative based on feedback here.

I work in IT, we wear jeans most days. So if I get this job I will need to do some shopping.
