Recruiter left a message for colleague on office wide voicemail

That sounds like a cold call. Or a follow up to a cold call. People in my firm get those calls allllll the time.

People are allowed to look for other jobs.

I am very happy with my current job with no plans to leave but I think it's stupid to not at least every 18 months or so casually look around at what is out there. That includes sometime talking to recruiters. I was at my last job for several years and when it was time to explore new career opportunities I had a lot of anxiety about it. I vowed to never let myself get rusty again.

Plus, it takes a long time to find a new job at least for me at my salary and experience level. If this person is at recruiter level she is clearly not entry level and she could be looking casually for over a year. No one is going to gaurantee you they will stay at your company forever.

Honestly it's a cold call. If it wasn't, the recruiter would have a personal number.

You should be a friend and talk to her to make sure she knows that everyone got the message, nthen delete it. What a weird system, no privacy.
