What are the preppiest and wealthiest towns in the Jersey Shore?

What about Avalon - the Icona Golden Inn? Looks like just redone.

Stone harbor is may be nice but definitely is not one of the wealthiest beach communities in NJ.
Correct list: Mantoloking, Deal, Rumson, Spring Lake, Longport, Loveladies, Harvey Cedars and Cape May.

Preppiest? Closest to Nantucket or the Cape?

Wealthy, preppy, all ways of saying the same thing. The Stone Harbor Bethany comparison is an Apr one. Both are nice beach areas that aren't't particularly exclusive.

Hmm, I would not have put Mantoloking on that list but maybe I haven't been there in awhile ... did you mean Interlaken? Rumson is near but not on the beach, and more importantly is a year round community, not a summer beach town with hotels and b&b's (same goes for Deal and all other towns on the shore in that area). I do agree that Rumson is very preppy, wealthy and lovely!

So glad I know where on the Jersey shore to avoid now...

Om gosh I can't believe Loveladies is on the list. My grand mother used to go to Loveladies every year with women she taught with. I don't think I ever realized it was an actual place; not sure what I thought it was when she'd talk about going to Loveladies. Hadn't thought about that for years until I read the name here. Now I want to go!

Totally! Who likes beautiful places with good restaurants and nice places to stay? Shitholes for the win!

No, I mean Mantoloking. OP asked what the wealthiest towns on the Jersey beach are. Not all are for tourists, and even fewer have hotels or b& bs.

It's still under construction. Part of it is open. I would wait until next year when hopefully the construction is complete.

Thanks. What are other nice hotels in cape may, Avalon, etc? Want luxury.

The Reeds in Stone Harbor is the most luxury I've seen at any beach within driving distance.

Hmm....

I would say no, it's not. I suppose the term is so abused these days but I still adhere to the more traditional definition of preppy, which reflects a particular socio-economic group with shared cultural values. If you're looking for genuinely preppy, then Nantucket is preppy. Martha's Vineyard is preppy. Vinalhaven is very preppy. Block Island is preppy.

They are quite different from the Jersey shore towns.

I must say I've never heard the Jersey shore towns and preppy mentioned in the same sentence before. If you want wealthy and ritzy then the Hamptons is where you need to go. I'm sure there's money in the Jersey towns too but it sounds like the OP is looking for serious displays of wealth.
