They look just like Gap and Old Navy clothes but for more $. I think they're a little babyish or formal. Not much in the sporty spectrum. |
| We like Peek Kids and Tea Collection. |
I have a rising 2nd grader. I figure this is the last year I can still put him in a fun shirt that is not sports apparels. Delay as long as you can on the athletic stuff. They will be in those from about 8 years until high school. |
|
Tucker + Tate makes great pull-on jeans for little boys. They are on sale at Nordstrom now.
Graphic t-shirts. I get them at Old Navy. Sneakers and hoodies. My child is obsessed with hoodies. |
I'm pushing off the athletic stuff as long as possible. I hate the look as everyday wear, but know it is looming. My rising K kid still doesn't seem to care much about clothes, so long as they are comfortable, so a rugby shirt/button down and khakis/jeans is still the default. I'm not a fan of characters, but I do know he's probably nearing the cut off for a lot of the "cute" Hanna/Boden stuff. siiiiiigh. |

My kids are in a mixed class of 4-5 yo. They currently want shirts with superheroes (especially if they have the velcro capes on them), paw patrol, TMNT. Many of the girls like Frozen in addition to the same as the boys. The superheroes currently in are any that are in movies, e.g. Avengers, Spiderman, Superman, Batman.

| Go to Marshalls/TJ Maxx they have a ton of Nike, adidas and under armour. Most of the boys in my sons classes wear this. |
| K boys are hard on their clothes. Don't spend a lot. They will come home covered in dirt, paint, markers, food spills... |
| You sound like a very nice grandparent! |
|
The boys at our school wear Under Armour year round.
None of my boys even own a pair of jeans. |
| Grandma...ask the mom or dad or just note what he likes when you see him. As you can see there are many different descriptions of cool. |
| At that age the boys really don't care what they're wearing. My oldest wore Boden and graphic t-shirts, and my middle son wears athletic shirts. Personally, I like the Under Armour because they are super durable. They make great hand-me-downs, unlike the regular t-shirts we have gotten elsewhere. They still look brand new after a year. |
Very true, but I have I have a rising 3rd and a K. The 3rd grader is all about UA and the K doesn't care yet. Stick with the cool graphic shirts from Target or Children's Place until they do. I don't think a kindergarten will notice brand clothes unless they are paying close attention to an older sibling. You are very nice grandparents. |
| Our school seemed to have a lot of pajama days. my son's PJs were too small so I had to run out and get some for school. Maybe get him Star Wars or Lego pajama pants. |
Agree that the UA stuff doesn't really hit until 2nd, 3rd grade. For a K, it's all about the characters. I might add Minions to the list, but that might be last year. And I think superheroes are always in for that group (but maybe trending more avengers, less superman at this point). Also shirts that have funny sayings on them. |
