Install gas line?

Oh, then it's really a no brainer! It's much cheaper to run from an existing gas line. The plumber just did this for our kitchen remodel and it barely added to our cost.

Plumber did that? I didn't know plumbers do gas work. You have to get it inspected right?

Yes, we had it inspected (FFX County). If you have an existing gas line in the home and you just need to tie into it (ours was in basement, just had to run it up to kitchen), any decent plumber should be able to do this for you. Running it from the street... I don't know anything about that.

If you want a gas stove, I'd do it. We had to run gas to our house, so when then did that, we had them run a line to the kitchen. Even though we still have an electric stove. Down the line we'll want to upgrade to gas (SO MUCH BETTER) so it was an easy call.

If under $1000, then yes. There are all kinds of reasons it can cost a lot more than this, in which case no.

A plumber will do this. They have to pull a permit and then arrange for inspection once the work is done. Cost will depend on the distance from the main gas line to your stove and how easy the access is. They also had to upgrade the electrical outlet for our new stove.
