I don't like heat and humidity so I think you should go to the Pacific Northwest. Seattle, Portland, Bay Area.
New England MAYYYYYYBE since it cools off a bit in the evenings, especially if you're on the water. |
| a month is a dream- why on earth wouldn't you take advantage of the opportunity to leave the country? |
Why are you posting this condescending remark rather than something helpful? International travel can be great, but the US also has a lot to offer. OP isn't stupid if she stays stateside. To the OP: I was going to recommend basing yourself somewhere out of the Seattle/Vancouver area based on your interests. Lots of parks and smaller towns to choose from. Bar Harbor is amazing, but I think that a month would be too long for me to be there. |
i was the poster. and i think you are the one overreacting and being condescending. i didn't call the OP stupid. unclench, pp. it's only monday... |
Huh? I did ask for international suggestions. Not sure at the moment if we can make it happen with work though - will depend on how things pan out in the upcoming year. -OP |
| And thanks for the additional suggestions! -OP |
| I would look for a tour package on trip masters or Gate 1 Travel and do as others have suggested and go to Europe or even Canada. |
|
I know the OP didn't ask this but if I had a month off I'd do a coast-to-coast camping road trip.
Places I could go and stay for a month, relax, and not be bored: San Diego and the Bay area. |
Actually we have discussed renting an RV and doing this a few times! One of our kids gets carsick though so we are putting this off until they are older. Torture them with it in their teens.
|
We are leaving for 3 weeks in mid-Coast Maine this weekend! |
| San Diego!! |
| How old are your kids? Like the above my first suggestion would also be San Diego area - like LaJolla. Beautiful beaches and hiking areas, so many water and other active activities, plus museums, shows, etc. for the rare overcast day. It is a great temperature and usually sunny (and no humidity!). Plus with a whole month you'd have time to easily access San Diego, Los Angeles, even Santa Barbara or the desert. |
Kids will be 7 and 10. My DH was living in San Diego when we first met so that would definitely be a special place for us to spend some time with our kids - they've never been. |
