North Potomac / northern Rockville Preschools?

Would you be open to a faith based school. The Sherman ECC at Har Shalom is outstanding! The program is Regio Emilia (which is child led), the teachers are the best part of the school. It is a small and amazing community!

We do need preschool plus aftercare (9am - 5:30pm). Any comments on these, or suggestions for others we should look at?

Academy Child Development Center at DuFief ES
Georgetown Hill
Franklin Montessori Rockville
Primary Montessori Day School
possibly Chesterbook Academy Gaithersburg (across from Rachel Carson ES) but it's a bit far

(I am not interested in Goddard, KinderCare, or Children's Manor Montessori.)

Thank you!

OP: curious why you are not interested in the 3 schools you mentioned). We did a tour at Children in the Shoe and it is play-based curriculum. Seems solid except that I didn't like that it's part of an office building and the playground is part of a parking lot. It's closed off but there isn't a whole lot of space.

OP here. Friends had a bad experience at Goddard. I toured KinderCare and didn't really like it. Children's Manor is not the same as Children in the Shoe; our older son went to Children's Manor and we are not interested in going back. I am looking into Children in the Shoe. Thanks!

No objections to a faith-based school, but this one is a little far. Thanks anyway!

OP again. Thanks for all the suggestions; I have added Children in the Shoe and Rockville Nursery School to my list. Most of the others recommended are too far for us.

i am still interested in any comments on Academy, Franklin, Georgetown Hill, or Primary Day?

I didn't get a great vibe from the King Farm Goddard, but you should know that each one is run separately and is not reflective of the other. If there's another one convenient for you, you may want to have a look.

The King Farm Goddard is the one my friends had a bad experience at, and unfortunately is also the only one really convenient to us.

NP here - could you give a little more detail on that, PP? What contributed to the bad experience specifically?

I don't really know the details, but it was more along the lines of social exclusion, not safety related.

OP here, just looked it up and yes, its in King Farm. Location-wise it would work. Any more specific comments about the school?

My neighbor - who is VERY picky - sends her kids there and loves it. I have heard wonderful things about the other locations (downtown Bethesda)... dont know much else, sorry!

Goddard in King Farm is super popular. I checked 3 months ago for infant care and was told no availability until Jan 2017.

Georgetown Hill in Rockville is good. OP have you gone on tours in any of these places?

Rockville Community Nursery School is a Coop and demands a huge commitment. Plan on spending lots of time at the school to coop and perform parent jobs.

ECC is fantastic. Not the one posted above (this one is not Jewish). It's near Rockville swim center.

Not the same school.

There are two Yelp reviews for this school, and one of them said that she was sexually assaulted in the 80s. I know that's a long time ago, but it still makes me uncomfortable to send my baby there. Any comments, the poster who suggested this school?
