Kids learn more outside of school. |

I was just looking at the calendar too! woohoo. Just hope we have enough leave to take some time off after this summer's travel. And there's December too! I like to save my leave for snow days.
My child will be in the 1st grade so no big deal. |
| WDW - 11/3-11/8, kids are missing 1.5 days of school before the Mon/Tues off. Us and most of FCPS at the happiest place on earth! |
| FCPS also has random days off in November. We have done Mexico, the Bahamas and Disney. We are looking into Florida, probably not Disney. Maybe Universal or Legoland. |
| Is MCPS's goal to have as few kids as possible in school that week while still technically offering instructional days? What a stupid schedule. |
| Fr all of you going out of town, I hope you still do early voting! |
|
Waaait a minute: Aren't those the 2 early release dates for parent-teacher conferences? I know teachers are available to conference at any time, but still. They're in the groove on those dates, and have all the MAP scores and other stuff ready. |
Eh - it's just the way the schedule worked out this year. Parent/Teacher conferences are always the 11th and either the day before/after and they are always half days. Schools are always closed for Election Day (the big elections). You do know it's not MCPS's fault those days happened to fall in the same week, right? It made sense to put the Teacher Work Day that Monday. Would you rather have the Teacher Work Day on Friday, November 4th? New Jersey schools always have a similar week in November as well. |
Don't go away for a full week. Schedule your conference for Friday afternoon and come back Thursday. Or just go away for a long, 4 day weekend. |
| I'd got to Woodloch--all inclusive resort in pennsylvania. they will have good mid-week deals and it will be beautiful there. |
And? Why skip an opportunity to travel for a ten minute meeting that could be handled over email? |
I already checked. Nearly $2k for a few nights. Booshee. |
