Get EZ pass for road trip to Maine?

For NJ alone, yes.

I've had EZpass ever since it first came out about 15 years ago. It will absolutely save your sanity while driving through Delaware, NJ and NY. I use it locally on the ICC.

We just drove to Maine (oy...long drive), and the EZPass was great. Lines at tolls were not an issue for us at all. Traffic elsewhere, well that was another story.

Have a great trip!!

Huge timesaver, I mainly use it now for going to New England and back once or twice a year, maybe some trips around here, too.

I've had a VA EZpass for years (regular model).

I got the EZ Pass flex when the 495 lanes opened, and that was before additional charges were made. I have used the flex option one time. VA used to charge a 1 dollar monthly fee but not anymore.

OP, get the EZ Pass. If you think you will have 3 people in your car on a regular basis and plan on using the 495/95 lanes in VA, then get the flex. There are weekdays that from Dale City to the end of the express lanes where the cost will be $18 or higher. The express lanes on 95 are supposed to be expanded 2 miles by the end of 2018.

I just ordered the flex from MD EZPass and they charged $16. We travel aourh enough that it is worth it. I have turned back home to get my EZPass when driving north. Get it.

It isn't hard to add plates to one's account either online.

Get one for sure. You can buy it at a toll booth so there is really no downside. And you're sure to use it at least once more even if you just take the ICC or visit someone in Virginia.

YES it's a lifesaver.

I got mine from Delaware because (at least when I was signing up) there was no fee. I have no connection to Delaware, you can get it from any state. You absolutely should get one!

I got the EZ pass flex because I thought I might use it. I didnt' use it within the 6 month period and didnt send it back so they charged me $10-which they pulled directly from my EZ pass account. So worst case scenario is it costs you $10. Or just get the other regular EZ pass from VA for free. I only use it 2-3X per year because we don't go on many road trips but I LOVE having it. You can set it up so that it will add a certain amount of money when the dollar value drops below $10.
