| You'll be fine with the bus. I've taken my son to school by bus for three years and we are always fine. You just need to have the right kind of winter clothes. Waterproof boots and a good warm coat for both of you. |

Can you clarify--do you not know how to drive or do you just not feel comfortable driving in DC? And do you own a car already?
I also agree that an after school nanny might be the best choice for you. |

| I would post to the Chevy Chase listserv and the nanny forum here to see if there's a nanny who wants to pick up 5-10 hours a week taking your kids to school. Also, it's really not a bad walk and you can check the bus arrival times online when it's cold out and head out 2 minutes before the bus shows up. |
| Also, I think you will feel ready to drive in the Chevy Chase neighborhood before you're ready to drive on the beltway. You're going three blocks and driving 10 mph. (All your neighbors just groaned at this suggestion). |
