I think that's the difference between Hillary and Trump. Hillary's VP pick will be 100% pandering and political calculation - who can bring me home the Bernie Bros, who can help me solidify the minorities etc etc. Trump doesn't operate like that. He is going to pick someone that is competent to get the work done. I guess if he picks Pence you can say there will be some degrees of pandering to the conservatives. |
We'll see. I'm not sure exactly what job the VP is supposed to get done, though. Unless you mean that Trump's VP will run the country while Trump runs his hotel on Penn Ave? |
Ive had opportunity to meet Kelly Ayotte (and of course hear her on the news), and she's impressive. But as you mention, she doesn't want the job. As far as the governor, I'm unfamiliar with him. |
It's kind of like a CEO and COO setup. |
Or, in the Trump case, more like the Queen and the Prime Minister. The former is just a figurehead. |
Who I might select is irrelevant as the GOP is stuck with Trump and as a result his running are will come from the equivalent of the Land of Misfit Toys. Had there been any serious, capable candidates in the race then there would have been any number of options including Rubio and Govs. Haley, Martinez and Ernst. Kasich would have been a string choice as well. Alas, the GOP finds itself in the position of a ship going down at the hands of a tyrannical Captain unwilling to heed warnings about icebergs ahead. |
I've yet to see any evidence of Trump's supposed ability to pick competent people. A very large percentage of top people in government have already said they won't work for him. Except for Paul Manafort, consultant to dictators, his campaign is full of second and third stringers. In business, major banks won't lend him money and his investments have done worse than the S&P 500. He's really scraping the bottom of the barrel for VP. Right now, he is considering a Congressman who hasn't run for office in 18 years, two unpopular governors, and a Democratic general. |
| He is going to pick Christie. He's been kissing Trump's butt for four months now, and Trump loves a good buttkisser. |
I doubt it. She'll probably pick someone like Tim Kaine. |
CNN just reported that Christi is out. It's come down to Pence and Gingrich |
Gingrich quit his job at Fox News so it must be him. |
He got fired. Now he's out of a job, because Trump won't pick him. It's Pence. |

CNN just reported that Christi is out. It's come down to Pence and Gingrich [/quote] My money is still on Christie. The establishment wants Pence and he checks so many boxes politically. But I don't think that's how Trump approaches this. He wants someone loyal and fun to work with. |
Fired. Quit. Same thing in this case. We'll see. |
| Oh please let it be Gingrich. He's a tool's tool. |
