Overwhelmed because?? A friend with a kid with ADD was just mentioning she got him a watch to help with normal daily routine stuff that had been quite helpful. Watchminder. I imagine you could set it to go off every 4 hours or whatever to change a pad/tampon until she gets the hang of it. |

I got my period at 10. My parents never indicated to me until I was much older that there was anything unusual about the age of onset. They talked to me about it beforehand so I thought it was natural. I think because of this approach, I had no issues with it whatsoever.
Once I was older, my mom suggested medical intervention to cause period cessation to counter the negative health consequences of early periods. |
| I never would have thought 10 was early to get your first period until DCUM. I was 10, my best friend was 9. Both skinny and active kids. Granted, most of our friends were 11 or 12 when they got theirs, but no one ever gave me an inkling that I was abnormal or that there was a potential medical issue. This was 30 years ago. |

Most of my friends got their periods in middle school, so that would be age 12 or so? My 9 1/2 year old has I guess you would call them breast buds. I did not hardly notice but Grandma said "she's getting boobies" and she was right!
The person who wrote about putting a 10 year old on hormones sounds cray cray. Like "Carrie?" WTH. |
