Life changing book you read as a teen

Heh - well there's always atlas shrugged. Really great thing to read as a teen but can be dangerous n the wrong hands. More than a few loopy men seem to get their heads permanently turned after reading that.

I can't imagine suggesting Atls Shrugged to a reluctant teen reader. It's a monster of a book.

Agree with Autobiography of Malcolm X (this is coming from a white girl).

Night by Elie Wiesel, it still haunts me 20+ years later.

It was on our high summer reading list senior year in the late 80s.

My side of the mountain.
I was probably about 12 when i read it. It's about a boy who has a swiss army knife and goes off to live in the wilderness. With his pocket knife, he builds a home, animal traps, fishing poles, etc. To this day, I think swiss army knives are awesome.

We Were the Mulvaneys. Actually my daughter had to read it for AP Lit and I snatched it from her when she was done. Great read for teens.
