Watched "Weiner" last night

I also found the documentary sort of horrifying and mesmerizing. But it revealed more of Huma than some of the PPs acknowledge - the fundraising calls, the advice to the PR person to smile for the press ("not for the campaign, I'm just thinking about you personally...") Ugh. She comes across as very manipulative. The poor-Huma-what-a-victim sob story discounts the fact that she has chosen to stay not once but twice with a guy who obviously has big psychological issues.

Agree. At this point it's pretty clear Huma is not an unknowing victim. She is choosing her life.

I was surprised to hear their wedding announcement. Weiner was always punching above his weight. She could have had her pick of decent men.

That's literally the most amazing thing about it. What's she looking for? Love? Money? Charisma? Big instrument? At least with HRC, we know why she kept hanging on.

I know that all expected Hilary and Huma to divorc their husbands, but these women are strong and couragous bough to write their own narrative. Good luck to them!

I understand that they are strong women. I just wish Huma puts her interest above her husband's sometimes.

I think she is just putting her child's interest above both if their interests. If he won, gets health, has a good career, it is better for their child.

If she dumps him and destroys his political career, how does that help her child?

How would dumping him destroy his political career? He already did a fantastic job of that himself.

Yes. And it's not clear how.

She gave him one last chance, in the movie.... and yes he destroyed it.

Wait. You're really placing the blame of ruining his political career on huma?!?! Wow oh wow. It's his fault. He's the one who sent the sleazy messages and acted like a creep. And lied. Over and over again.

I am not blaming Huma for destroying his political career. But she was his only hope of being mayor of NY. She was willing to help, because her child's father would be either mayor or NY or nobody... she took a chance and he f'd it up again.

It's his fault, he is a liar and a creep but.... how many men/women lie to their spouses? most.... How many have affairs and still stay for the children? Many

He has never even physically been in the same room as the women he texted. He is a creeper for sure, and has issues, but so does everybody. I don't think Huma should stay with him, but she is like most people, she stays for her child.

She is so pretty, I could not believe how pretty she is. What about when he watched a video of himself then said, "that is the opposite of Huma"

He also said, "she stays despite my failings"

Do you have a perfect marriage? Could cameras truthfully follow you around 24x7 and you not be totally embarrassed by some things in your house?

I think this doc is in theaters, not Netflix yet... correct me if I'm wrong.

I agree with the PP that Huma wanted him to make a come-back so that she could reclaim her respectable life...but it didn't work out that way. Why they didn't shoo away the filmmakers after the second scandal broke is mind-boggling.

Her life is beyond respectable. It's his that's the problem. Can he even get a job right now? Did the movie discuss this?

Just wanted to say that he couldn't have a more perfect last name for his "issues." It lends itself perfectly to the title of the documentary, too.

What a weiner.
