What goes on in class in MCPS elementary schools during these last two weeks of the school year?

4th grader - doing a project on volcanoes. Reader's theater.
2nd grader - creating a video of a famous leader. Some other project about wild animals in the jungle.

Plus, I assume, all normal coursework.

3rd grader, recorder concert and a science section on dams. My kid is still getting math homework. She had not gotten any for the past 3 weeks. It started again Monday of this week.

My kids are doing projects in school in 1st and 4th. Nothing crazy, but fun and they're learning and writing things. They also have a ton of special events - field day, writers workshop, class party, another party, field trip to catch crabs, etc.

Math does seem to be productive. 4th grader in compacted math has actual homework and is learning things. 1st grader just started a unit on how to tell time! Yay!

Lots of stuff. Still doing homework, projects, quizzes, etc...

But the fact that so many here are no just makes me want year round school even more. I feel like the curve to start in late Aug and the entire month of June seems to be a waste.

Both my 3rd and 1st graders are still doing a lot of learning. 1st grader was taught time over the last two days and 3rd grader is working on narrative writing pieces.
