Will I regret taking money from my parents?

This is my H's family. Even if they gift one family a piece of furniture (used) they write the other a check for their estimate of what it is worth. I think my MIL severally resented what she thought was unequal treatment of similarly situated siblings in her family of origin and still resents her parents for the way they chose to handle things, so she does it this way because that's how she thought her parents should have done it so as not to breed resentment.
