Am I insane?

LOVE that dress! It looks like something that you'll be able to get to wear a fair amount because it does look rather timeless. At your income level, yeah, it's a bit of a splurge, but it doesn't sound like you splurge a lot, so enjoy that dress!

I think kind of. The worst puchases I have made in my life are at Neiman Marcus's Final Call because the discounts are so good I end up buying beautiful stuff that is still terribly expensive. I convince myself it's worth it because it's classic (Armani tuxedo suit, Donna Karan leather jacket, paper thin suede jacket by Rene Lezard, Chanel tweed jacket), and then years later I go through the painful process of giving it away unworn. Finally I've stopped going to Final Call!

I love the dress. I also think it is really practical and work appropriate. Depending on the material, you may be able to wear it into fall with a cardigan. If you can afford it, keep it!

If you write a check today to the charity of your choice for the exact same amount, I won't think you are insane.

How do you know OP hasn't already given many times that amount to charity this year?

I LOVE the dress. Do I think it is worth the inflated price because it is Dior? NO!

However, I will say, you seem to work very hard and deserve to treat yourself! so KEEP IT! Enjoy it! Hold your head up high and be proud of your "treat"!!

I don't know she hasn't already given that amount or far more. I am just saying, if she writes the check, it is far easier to justify the dress.

You're not insane... you're lucky.

Very cute dress. But not $1500.00 cute, imo. But, sounds like you have the income to spend it. If you like it and it looks good on you, go for it.

I clicked on the link to see this fabulous dress...And, to be blunt, it's not that special. I don't think you are insane, but asking complete strangers whether you should keep or return the dress is not the way to go. Ask a friend whose fashion-sense you admire to voice her honest opinion as you model the dress...

OP here. I decided to keep the dress. (Just learned this morning about my annual raise, so I felt ok to splurge )

And for those of you who mentioned that the dress did not look like anything special, I must say its beauty is in how it fits...

That is a gorgeous dress. But you have answered the only salient question: How does this splurge make you feel?
