Beauty and Fashion
| I just bought three pairs on line this evening! Great colors> |
| They're cut nicely and are flattering, and I agree with the PP who suggested the patent leather ones if you don't like the medallion standing out so much. I haven't bought a pair b/c I think there are dozens of other cute, comfy flats at a much lower price point. Plus, I hate buying what everybody else has . . . but some people buy them for exactly that reason. . . not that there's anything wrong with that. (And please don't flame -- note that I said "some" people, and even those people can be fun, kind, smart, etc. . . maybe just unimaginative or tired of shopping and in need of comfy shoes). |
This is laughable. People who dislike a popular piece of fashion are usually not "bitter" they simply do not see the attraction in paying inflated prices for something they deem unattractive. I feel the same way about Vera Bradley bags. To me they look like women are running around using their makeup bag or travel tote as a purse. I do not get the attraction. And I highly doubt that the TB flats specifically are becoming classics. Ballerina flats surface every few years or so with a new twist. I'd say that this "medallion style" is this year's new twist. For those who like them and think they are comfortable, go for it. But for comfort, and the ballerina flat style I think that Frye, Born, Ecco and Cole Haan have cuter offerings and for just comfort I think Keen has a great selection, too. Sadly, at 5'2" I tend to rarely wear flats.

I laughed so hard when I read the subject. I so agree. I absolutely love shoes! I have shoes in every price point but could not for the life of me figure out what I disliked so about these shoes. OP, you hit the nail on the head so to speak.
I agree with the PP, about Vera Bradley bags. I do not see what is the attraction. I will say my 74 year old grandmother loves them.... |
Agree about the shoes....but I love my Vera Bradley bags. I will say I am not a huge fan of their purses, but I love the totes and duffel bags for travel. They are SO light in weight--whereas a lot of other travel bags I've owned are heavy before you even put stuff in them--and you can fit a ton of stuff. And you can toss them in the washing machine. That's why I like them. |
| I like mine too, but I wish they were not elastic on the back and had leather soles. They are always slipping down! |

Vera Bradley? Did someone say Vera Bradley? I never pass up a chance to slam Vera Bradley bags! Thank you, Vera Bradley, for convincing adult women to accessorize themselves like Hallmark shops, or perhaps like some hypothetical spinster Aunt Fanny's powder room wallpaper. My mom used to sew remarkably similar satchels from quilted fabric with dowdy prints in 1982. I can't imagine they were any less frumpy then, though I was too young to be aware of such things.
The Tory Burch medallions not subtle, are they? |
|
This post cracks me up. I live in Europe and had never heard of Tory Burch. Mind you, I'm no fashionista. I was in a couple really nice department stores here (think luxury brands Escada, etc.). Not a Tory Burch shoe to be found, so I looked them up on the internet. Have to say . . . I'm not a fan.
Oh . . . I hate Vera Bradley, too. (another thing I've never seen here) |
| Dior flats are my favorite. Tory Burch is one of those "American fashionista-only" trends. I have decided to buy no more oversized handbags either. They're not practical when you have a toddler and an infant. |
| Someone gave me a Vera Bradley bag for a diaper bag and I have used it as such. I didn't know what it was and didn't love it but it was from a good friend so we used it. When we started daycare one of the helpers (not a teacher) GUSHED over the Vera Bradley back. I was a little embarrassed and just kind of mumbled "I'm not sure" when asked what kind of bag it was. Went home and googled it and realized how much my friend spent on the darn thing and was doubly embarrassed. |

The title of this post really made me laugh!! Good one OP. But at least Flava Flav was wearing his gigantic clock as a subversive gesture.....
I had no idea what TB flats were when I started reading about them on DCUM. I HAD noticed many of them on women walking around town, and I have to admit I was very perplexed by what I find to be an extremely ugly fashion. So I thought it was quite amusing when I found out through this forum that they are a coveted and pricey fashion statement amongst a certain type of DC female. Even if they cost $5, I would still think they were ugly. But that's me - I hate logos and brands in general. I would never wear a piece of clothing where you can see the designer name. I find that very tacky. |

If you think the regular leather/patent TB flats are heinous, check out these "jelly" TB flats for $95. WTF?

I think they are waterproof for the rain. Might be good on a day like today! |
| OMG PP, those are hideous!!!!!! WHY oh WHY???? |
I dunno. I think they would make my feet feel icky and sweaty. |
