| How does the place have an average SAT of 1976 and an average ACT of 29? |
What is your question? That is about right. http://blog.prepscholar.com/act-to-sat-conversion |
| is it even accreditted?? Could cause problems if it is not - grad school or transfer schools may not accept the degree/credits. |
| My DC's English teacher went to Hillsdale and he doesn't know anything about grammar. Or literature. I was surprised since I thoight it was a strong liberal arts school with an extra dollop of Constitution. Very disappointing. |
You can't judge a school based on one person. Plenty of idiots come out of the Ivys. |
Apparently they don't follow standard teacher accreditation requirements so perhaps that is why the teacher turned out subpar. |
Of course it is accredited. It has been around since 1844, is one of the "colleges that change lives" colleges based on NYT education writer Loren Pope's book, participates in numerous Division II sports and Forbes and Kiplinger magazines rate it as a best value liberal arts college and US news ranked it 69 best national liberal arts college. One may disagree with its conservative values but it was the first U.S. College to prohibit in its charter discrimination based on race, sex or religion and was also the second college in the country to grant 4 year degrees to women. I am not affiliated with it in any way, just admire it for refusing all federal and state aid and not requesting the prospective student's race on its application. |
How wouldn't it? It is a solid, well-respected LAC in the same tier as schools like Muhlenberg, Lawrence, Beloit, Sarah Lawrence, St. Lawrence, Hobart and William Smith, Denison, etc. |
Why would it not be accredited? You really need to get out of your bubble. |
+1 The DCUM snobbery, it blinds |
+1. And others too. |
I think it's less snobbery and more just freaking out over the idea of a *gasp!* college with more conservative leanings/approach to education. In DCUM's minds, that's just impossible! |
| So it's pretty much the conservative version of Reed?( Conservative nerds instead of Liberal nerds) |
