Haven't tucked in years. Waist is gone. Yes, I'm old. |
I never liked it either, but it serves it's purpose for some. I like my waist and like to show it off. |
Yes!! And I am a fit 53!!! |
I don't see the problem. I think half tucks look flattering on many women. I do it all the time. |
Sounds like a tuck back |
I like it and always have. I haven't been wearing it myself in the last few years (baby weight), but if I get my flat stomach back I will. |
I did not even know there was a name for this. |
+1 If you have a nice waist, flaunt it |
I'm skinny with a flat tummy, but if I want to show it off, I would just rather buy a shirt that is tailored in shape or form fitting, rather than this drapey ridiculousness that is currently in style. The only reason retailers keep pushing these styles is because it's cheaper to design and manufacture a potato sack than it is to make a tailored shirt. |
I like the half-tuck, but only do it occasionally... Agree that the full tuck can read old-lady pretty quick, and even on the young and slim, can get a little bunchy and unflattering. Though also agree with the PP that much of the reason for all the "tucks" is that all the tops are so darn boxy, drapey, wide, etc. these days. Could we have some fitted tops again, fashion-setters? |
If you have a nice waist, get a fitted top and tuck all the way around. Only looks old lady if the shirt is blousy around your waist. |
Always half-tuck. |
I definitely used to half-tuck back in the day. I'm happy it's back. I hate, hate, hate a full tuck! It never works with a big chest and a small waist. |
+1 |
I think part of the reason for the half tuck is that shirts have become longer and for a lot of women they hit at the widest part of the body. The half-tuck is more flattering.
I don't think it works for t-shirts or shirts that are one length all the way around, but for button-downs, I think it looks cute. |
