You can't be serious!

A lot of people on this thread need to read up on South African history. Let's not over-dramatize on either side here.

Apartheid was evil. That is not being overdramatic. That is being factual.

You are so right and what is more there is biblical basis for the apartheid according to the Dutch Reform Church.

How can one argue with what the Bible commands whether in South Africa or in the segregated South?

PP here who said people need to read up. Calling apartheid evil is certainly not overdramatic. But calling Mandela a "saint" in this context is mocking. And a blanket statement calling him a Marxist in his early career is a stretch; I'd save that for Joe Slovo and other SACP members. As for the "can't be serious" PP, they could at least acknowledge that the Mandela of the 1990s was not the same Mandela of Umkhonto we Sizwe. Don't you think?

The government is not torturing and murdering Boers.

And necklacing was done by black South Africans trying to prevent others from taking bribes to sell out the ones fighting apartheid.

Most of us in our 70s are not the same as we were in our 20s, whether we were members of MK or not.

You mean like George Washington, Patrick Henry, Crispus Attucks, Paul Revere, Thomas Jefferson, et al.
+1. I love people who read.

George Washington and Paul Revere were Marxists? Learn something new every day.

Somehow this is shocking, but I think I have really been naïve and I should not be surprised, but I am

No they just committed treason against the Crown.

And Sitting Bull? Who was he?
Also a hero opposing the genocide against his people, but we do not want to say that?
