This reminds me of a story my friend (he's 37) told me about his mother's experience shopping for maternity clothes in Kentucky in the 70s. Back then it was all baby doll dresses, sailor outfits, big bows. She reportedly told the sales clerk "I'm going to have a child, not become one." Love it.
I am not a fan of looking like my kid. However, Hannah Andersson has some nice mother-daughter outfits that have coordinated but not identical looks, i.e. mother's skirt and toddler's dress are made of the same fabric. Don't love it, but it's better than those scary Laura Ashley outfits I remember from the 80s.
