St Augustine is lovely, too - smaller town than Tampa/St Pete but really charming, pleasant and nice.

Last I checked, and it has been quite a while since I was 18, but charming pleasant and nice kind of eliminate that from the menu of choices palatable to an 18 year old.

I should have used different words. There's a beach scene and a college in St Augustine that I think attracts some of the young-uns, and for us olds there's history, food, charming stuff. Daytona is close by, too, for what that's worth.

If she's low key, maybe a couple nights in Miami with days in the Everglades and the drive to one of the Keys. There are more keys than Key Largo and Key West

The FL Keys are a good idea. Fun Florida vibe, our teens like it. Close enough to S Florida to do South Beach and fun shopping.

Alternately, St Augustine/Jax are great choices.

What about seeing if any of her favorite bands are playing in FL around then and planning around that?

I vote this!

DId she learn Spanish in school?
We vacationed in Miami and the Keys on spring break to try the Cuban restaurants and speak Spanish.

I think Siesta Key - just west of Sarasota has a younger crowd.

This is what I was going to say. St. Armands in Sarasota is very nice too. It's a big circle with restaurants and shops. Do you have any Marriott points? There is ritz right thee with pretty low points compared to price. There is a drum circle on Sundays which is cool. Downtown Sarasota is decent and there is the big kiss statue (she can impress her friends when she hears the real story behind it). Siesta Key is gorgeous (generally ranked one of the most beautiful in the world) with quirkier shops, restaurants, etc. There is a lot of kayaking and the mote aquarium, some trails.
