I should have used different words. There's a beach scene and a college in St Augustine that I think attracts some of the young-uns, and for us olds there's history, food, charming stuff. Daytona is close by, too, for what that's worth.[/quote]

This is what I was going to say. St. Armands in Sarasota is very nice too.  It's a big circle with restaurants and shops.  Do you have any Marriott points? There is ritz right thee with pretty low points compared to price.  There is a drum circle on Sundays which is cool.   Downtown Sarasota is decent and there is the big kiss statue (she can impress her friends when she hears the real story behind it). Siesta Key is gorgeous (generally ranked one of the most beautiful in the world) with quirkier shops, restaurants, etc.  There is a lot of kayaking and the mote aquarium, some trails.
