I personally woudlnt get my insurance involved at all. Why? It will count as a claim. I just had someone Horne from behind. I called the person's insurance and dealt with it. I didn't want my insurance involved at all.

Not to be rude here what you are out of your mind PP^^

OP did not cause the accident! Her insurance company is not going to raise her rates for an accident SHE did not cause. Rates go up only when you're at fault. And yes, that is why she pays her premiums every month....her insurance company is supposed to do all that dirty work for her and work it out directly with the "at fault" person's insurance company.

Have you tried to switch carriers? If you've been with State Farm for 25 years, then you are likely paying way too much. If you try to switch, I guarantee they will bring those accidents that weren't your fault up. They do count against you.

Doubt it. Why in the heck would you switch carriers if you are totally happy with the carrier you have?

We have been with USAA for 38 years and have had various accidents, mostly not our fault. Mostly fender benders, but one major. We have a young son on the policy (age 21) and 3 cars insured. Premiums are 2K per year in Fairfax County . . . I don't think that is exorbitant. And even if it's a couple of hundred more than somewhere else, it's worth it for the service we have always gotten from them.
