I drink and listen to audiobooks. |
Movies and magazines. |
Listening to music |
I usually work for a couple of hours, read for a couple of hours, watch 1-2 movies and that covers it. On overnight flights to Europe I've learned to get the express meal option (or eat before the flight) and go to sleep right away. |
Podcasts, tv shows, relaxing adult coloring books , making lists / journaling |
Can you sleep on a red eye? |
I know I'm late to the party on this, but I recently bought a new iPod and have been enjoying podcasts when I have a chunk of time to fill. I flew to Vegas a couple months ago and the time flew by listening to various podcasts. I particularly enjoy stuff you should know, stuff you missed in history class, and zero to travel. Also, audible is another good time filler. |
No. I have terrible flying anxiety. |
I also do multiple 14+ hour flights a year (I suspect PP and I are going to the same place). I load my iPad up with books, play Candy Crush, and catch up on movies shown on the IFE system. I fly business or first class, so the first meal always takes a few hours, and I never rush through it. Lie down and daydream lots. |
Take a Xanax. |
Mile high club. |
Me too, I can daydream and I love it. |
I change into comfy clothes after take off, take my contacts out, out on some heavy moisturizer, take a Xanax and have a few glasses Of wine. The i will either sleep or watch movies but either way the Xanax Makes me forget I'm even on a plane so it works out. I fly several hundred thousand miles a year and have maj flight anxiety. Get a Xanax script ASAP. |
I'm another who takes multiple 14+ hour flights a year. iPad is huge. In flight movies just for a change of pace every now and then. Getting up and walking around several times good as well (go for an aisle seat). |
+1 for the Xanax prescription. I have tremendous anxiety about flying, but I take some Xanax and conk out for hours. Do NOT drink alcohol if you are anxious. Alcohol's affect on the body can be similar to the symptoms of an anxiety attack. I find that movies can be a helpful distraction as well as light reading like magazine articles about fashion, travel or whatever interests you. It's difficult but try to move your body around in the seat -- raise each knee to your chest, twist your trunk as if you are doing a yoga pose, raise and lower your shoulders. When we are tense, we hold our muscles tightly. Movement releases tension.
Enjoy your next trip! |
