Is it possible for a family of 4 to go to the movies for under $50?

University Theater in FFX is inexpensive and has great popcorn (real butter). They show movies that have been out for awhile but aren't on DVD yet.

Nobody cares if you bring in little snack bags. We have food allergies in the family and nobody has bothered me about little bags of crackers and such. Now the person who is hiding a sub sandwich in their coat sleeve, or bringing in something really messy would probably be noticed a lot more.

A little off topic, on this off topic post. But after driving all the way out the the Alamo in Ashburn, I find it hard to go to any other theater now. They do fun themed events, have great food, and service at your seat!

FWIW their bottomless popcorn is amazing and easy for the whole family to share.

Who buys cinema food?
Can't your spoiled kids hear "no, it's overpriced" for once?
We go on occasion to the cinema, and have never paid for the food - it's unhealthy AND a rip-off.

If you must eat during the movie then bring your own food. We rarely buy movie food. It's 2 hours, usually after dinner, and I wouldn't be eating then if I was at home.

We love University Mall Theater! And the $2 movies are a lot of fun during the summer. Our swim team goes and the kids have so much fun.

Regal Potomac yards has 5 tickets all day on Tuesdays if you join their crown club, which is free. yOu also accumulate points towards free tickets and snacks pretty rapidly.

That's $48 just for tickets alone not including food and/or refreshments.

Should I stuff it my purse and bra to avoid having to pay inflated refreshment prices?

The ushers are all too busy texting on their smart phones they probably wont even notice.

You are not accounting for tax.

Go during to a matinee. If you want candy/water buy it before at the store. If you want popcorn, splurge on it. Who goes to the movies that often anyway? I think popcorn is a special treat and it's good! (In a gross way but whatever)
