The way the OP phrases the initial purchase, it sounds like a private sale. |

Even synthetic oil is pretty cheap (not as cheap as real oil) unless it is a strange weight like 10w60 in some the BMW s series engines that goes for ~$10 a litre.
Most shops do oil changes for cheap/under cost. It gives them a chance to check out your car for problems that they can fix and make more money on. Tire rotation should be cheap, putting a car on a lift, using air tools to pop off lug nuts and rotate takes literally 10 min at most. |
| I have a similar car and follow to recommended maintenance schedule at the dealer. Cheating out will cost you more money in the long run. |
True-ish. But doing it at the dealer does nothing but waste money. |
I second that. |
| Go on YouTube and learn to do it yourself. My husband does all our basic services. |
| You can also take it a Toyota dealer. |
| The Lexus RX 450H shouldn't be using synthetic oil, its the same motor as the Toyota Camry/Avalon/Highlander. I got my free first oil change for our RX a few weeks ago, but plan on doing it myself after that. Lexus markets the SUV as a luxury vehicle (and it is), but the guts of the car is still Toyota. Thus find a trusted independent mechanic who works on Japanese cars and you can avoid getting the larger bills. |
