I liked Dr. Moon, though the treatment we did didn't work for us (we stopped before trying more invasive treatment that may have worked).
She was willing to explain things and to consider other things that we suggested, though not great at proposing options. Basically she'd say "I think you should do X." If we said "what about Y?" she'd either say ok or explain why she preferred X, but she wouldn't start off by telling us that both X and Y were options. When the nurse didn't respond, we could email her and get an answer. And when we had a miscarriage, she was compassionate and helpful in pushing our insurance to schedule a D&C. |
| I understand that Dr Chang does the retrievals for his patients, which could add a level of comfort. Dr Widra is the medical director for Shady Grove, and I think has the most experience. He has been our dr, and willing to try other things we brought to him, within reason. If I had it to do over, I would use him again. |
| A lot of people seem to like the doctors in the Annandale office. There is another thread on that. |
Used Chang for two ETs. He was 2/2, so he's my go to guy. Widra was my K. St/Sibley doctor. I love him. He's hard to get to know and engage, but he and I were able to connect with mutual respect. And he was always available for my complaints, whether personnel, insurance or medical. |
| I was a patient in Annandale but Dr. Nair at K Street did my last transfer. She was fantastic! So warm and caring, and took the time to explain absolutely everything. I only saw her that one time but if I were to go back to SG, I would definitely think of seeing her. |
I second Dr. Moon. She was clear and kind, and quite responsive. Even though it's been more than a year since we had a baby, she still responds via email or phone when I have occasional questions. |
| We consulted with two other docs at SG before settling on the right fit with Greenhouse at SG Fair Lakes. We saw Dr Moon at K St and I thought she was informed and great with communication. Not the right fit for us overall but if you're committed to the K Street location you might want to consider a consult with her. |
I'm one of the PPs that had two kids because of chang. He didn't do my ER but knew I was downstairs and came and assisted. I loved that he took time out to be there. He also called me right after I left crying from a U/S one time. The tech called him and mentioned I was upset (thank gosh for that). He called me (about an hour after I had left the K street office). I was doing an IUI and had 9-10 mature follicles. I was fearful of a canceled cycle. I paid out of pocket for the IUI, so he called with options. He suggested converting to an IVF and even knew the Aetna rate. We did convert and I now have a five month old. He is clinical but has always been so helpful. I would not be holding my DD if he hadn't made that call. I don't think I would have converted to the mini IVF had he not called. I know SG gets a bad rap, but there are good doctors. |
| Another recommendation for Dr Osborn. When I did IVF, she and her nurse, Carrie (K street) were great. |
| I liked Dr Levens- he was really warm and comforting and kind. But gave me the DE speech after 1 IVF. So I left SG. But I did really like the Annandale office- drs, staff, everyone. |
