Slight overcrowding? 915 in a school for 630 is "slight"? |
What are the "many more advantages"? |
| Not the PP, but I've heard Ashburton has better facilities and infrastructure than many other schools in other parts of the county. |
It can't be as good as BFES. |
| Yep, the portables at Ashburton are gold plated. |
Don't forget the red carpets in the hallways... |
I think you heard from someone who has never visited Ashburton. |
| I agree with the earlier poster about AShburton complaints. My DD's school has many portables and an old gym, while Ashburton kids get to enjoy a really nice clean school. |
| I hope our standards for schools in MCPS is higher than "clean." |
|
MCPS is no good at long range planning. Ashburton was modernized maybe 20 years ago. Guess the demographer did a crummy job with the projections. See, for example, all the portables at Matsunaga for another example of his handiwork.
We need better long range planning, a new demographer, and maybe even redistricting to make better use of the schools that do have extra space. |
| Agree with PP. Need better forecasting and demographic analysis. But don't redistrict me out of my Churchill cluster. I bought here to avoid the problems in the surrounding clusters and don't want my DS in those types of schools. |
there is no guarantee when you bought the house that rezoning would never happen. Give me a break. You make it sound like the surrounding area around Churchill is gang infested, when in fact Churchill had the '54 gang issue years ago. |
| Have you ever crossed Montrose to the other side of Seven Locks? It's practically East Baltimore. |
There's a lot to be said for "clean." - someone whose friend pulled her son out of a JKLMM DCPS and put it into private kid-year because the bathrooms were giving him OCD |
| I agree that clean is a requirement, but to say that Ashburton has better facilities because the school is clean compared to other MCPS schools is ridiculous. |
