Teacher took yesterday off to be at the white house egg roll...

We haven't even considered the egg roll because it's a school day, right after a week off for spring break. But apparently its okay for the teacher?

Then this is your poor decision making. You have an opportunity to do a really memorable event with your kids, but your slavish devotion to rules won't let you pick the activity they'll get much more out of.

Gosh, then she's probably been going through something difficult like maybe a health challenge for herself or a relative. How nice that she could spend a special day with her kid who is also dealing with a challenging situation.

Oh hey, DCUM isn't backing up my stupid complaints so let me throw in a probably fabricated detail to try and bolster the support!

Unless you are best friends with this teacher and intimately familiar with all the details of her personal life, you have no idea what's going on behind the scenes. You have no right to judge what another adult does with time off - that's between them and their employer.

I think you are using an incorrect unit of measurement for your argument.

Ever hear of personal days? Teachers get them too.
I'm sure she enjoys having you as a parent in her class.

pp who is a lawyer.

+1 I'm a lawyer, too. My kid once had a teacher who took off to get in line for the newest iPhone. Maybe not how I would spend a day off, but who am I to judge? Hope she had a great day!

so would it have been okay if she stayed home to take care of a sick kid? is the issue that she did something fun.

I am not a teacher and think this is a totally okay reason to miss work.

My response is she better be really good with technology and share her skills with the kids.

Plus 1 million!!!!!
If I did not have my school spring break yesterday than I most certainly would have taken off the day, too- and used one of my PERSONAL days.

Wow! If we won the ticket lottery, we would have gone, too. It's a special opportunity that most people never get to experience.

You do not get a preference or vote here!
