I always suggest something where kids CAN'T come. Like "hey want to go to this drop-in dance class with me Wednesday night at 7?" Or yoga. Then we go out for a drink afterwards to talk.

Nobody brings their kids to those. But just hanging out? Everyone hauls their kids around.

I was in a situation like this with a couple of my friends. Didn't bother me, as I wasn't the one who had to take care of the baby. I left my older child at home with his Dad. It would have been better sans kids but it was what it was.
