DS attended for middle and upper school, and graduated a couple of years ago. I found the community to be welcoming, both to me as a parent and especially to DS. It wasn't like starting at PK - parents are less involved in the kid's social lives at this age - but I made several good friends I still see, and was friendly with pretty much all of the parents in DS's grade. There were, of course, a few parents I had little in common with, but all were cordial and pleasant.

Why are people so nasty? Why are genuinely honest questions followed by such harsh remarks. Is it that anonymity breeds meanness?
Wouldn't it be logical to assume that this group-"Private/Independent Schools", be composed of educated individuals?.
New to the site, only looking for answers as I navigate my daughters choices..felt compelled to comment.

Then it sounds like your answer should be: "I don't know. I'm not part of that community."

You don't have to be a part of a community to know how it is. I have an opinion based on my observation. Snooty and uptight.
